How do I design a garden room 2.5m high?
We are asked this question all the time! If you want to build a garden room under the Permitted Development rules rather than applying for Planning Permission, the 2.5m high rule will be very important to you.
This rule is important as 2.5m high garden rooms offer the most flexibility over the positioning of the building in your garden.
Our sample plans show you the typical build up of 2.5m high garden rooms
Our first set of plans looks at a 3m x 3m cube style garden room that is 2.5m high. Even if you want to build a different size or style of room, the plans will be insightful as they look at all the steps involved in the build-up including creating a warm roof.
Our second set of sample plans looks at the construction of a 5m x 4m garden room with secret storage shed. It has become very popular to build one building with two different uses. These plans look at how the professionals create a secret storage area in their garden rooms.
Our latest set of plans looks at the build-up of a 3m x 2.5m Barn Style Garden Room with a pitched roof, but still only 2.5m high. This set of plans also includes two layered SketchUp models which you can explore for further insight into the build-up of this style of room.
We also look at the costs involved in building this garden room
As well as the plans, we have created a document that estimates the materials you'll need to build our sample garden room. We have priced out these materials and compared them with buying a similar spec garden room on a full-service basis - it's amazing what you could save self-building!
