What you get with this package:
With the 3-in-1 Sample Plans Package, you get a PDF copy of the Fifth Edition of the Self Build Garden Room Guide eBook. We have recently updated the book with news of innovations in the garden room industry and details of materials which are used by professional garden room designers.
The Self Build Garden Room Guide is an essential companion to our sample plan sets, giving you more detail on materials we mention throughout the plans.
Two sets of 3-in-1 plans
Since we launched our sample plans, we have had emails asking about the build-up of a cold roof on a garden room. Making use of insulated roof panels and creating a eaves detail or a roof canopy.
With our new 3-in-1 sample plans we have tried to answer these questions showing you a typical build-up of three different roof types - cold roof, warm roof and insulated roof panels.
In one set of plans, we have designed a popular 2.5m high cube shaped garden room to showcase the different build-ups.
We have then created another set of sample plans that showcase the three different build-ups on a 2.5m high contemporary design that features a deck and canopy.
Both sets of sample plans will give you insight into the construction of a 2.5m high garden room, even if you are planning on building a different size building, they will give you valuable insight to design it.
Each sample set of plans looks at the build-up in 3 ways:
Cold Roof Build-Up
One set of plans looks at the garden room with a typical cold roof build-up.
Warm Roof Build-Up
Another set of plans looks at the garden room with a typical warm roof build-up.
Insulated Roof Panel Build-Up
The final set of plans looks at the garden room with a typical insulated roof panel build-up.
Material estimates & costings
Each sample plan set comes with a spreadsheet where we have estimated the materials and costs for the project. We have also added an overview list of materials which you could use for pricing your own project.
The spreadsheet also includes a comparison of the self-build costs with those of buying a similar specification garden room on a full-service basis.
We have compared the estimates to build each garden room with the costs of buying a comparable specification building on a full-service basis.
Material & cost estimates
We have quantified the materials needed from the measurements on the plans and costed them out.
From our estimates, we have totalled up the materials needed for each garden room specification to create a handy shopping list.
Layered SketchUp models
With the Complete Garden Room Guide 2018 package we have included the layered 3D models we used to create the plans. These models can be opened and played with, in SketchUp Make, the free version of the popular software used by garden room designers.
These models are valuable as you can explore and measure aspects - even on your phone via the SketchUp Viewer app.
You can even edit these models to modify the design to your liking - we plan on adding a series of tutorials on how to do this in the coming weeks and months.
Fully layered models
These are the models we used to create the sample plans. Each element is on its own layer so you can switch layers on and off to explore the build-up further.
Explore different elements
Scenes have been used in the model to give you easy to access snapshots of the build-up.
Check measurements quickly
You can use the dimension tool to quickly check measurements.
